The Great Temecula Book Drive
|
Temecula, California – April 23,2012 The vision is well known. The benefits are far reaching. The drive itself is local. The event is “green.”The Business Women’s Network of Temecula Valley (BWN) is generating revenue for the Friends of the Temecula Libraries Bookstores (FOTL) through the Great Temecula Book Drive. Books are magnificent, awesome, happy, and interesting. They help the young and the old learn, and they keep everyone smart. And from now through December 31, 2012 BWN is collecting books, DVD’s, CD’s, and VHS tapes in good condition at Tesoro Winery (28475 Old Town Front Street at 6th Street, Temecula, 951-308-0000). According to Vice President Chair Kimberly Olson this program is in its 4th year. “We felt it’s a chance to reach out to the community as business owners with children and grandchildren in this valley. Its one small way we can contribute our collective resources and give back.” One of the group’s goals is, “To build awareness of the great programs available for children at our libraries, collect enough books on this drive to fund new programs for the kids, and learn new ways to make the drive even more successful next year”. $.95 from every dollar in book sales go the library to provide extra services, materials, and enhancements – especially children’s programs. The dollars made from the sale of the books, CD’s, DVD’s, and VHS tapes fund a whole host of children’s programs, including story time, holiday craft projects, and performances. Vice President Olson shares, “It’s amazing to watch what the ‘FOTL’ does to support our children. It does your heart good to be a part of such a wonderful process.” The “Friends” stores stock a wide variety of hardback books (both fiction and non-fiction), paperbacks, VHS tapes, DVDs, CDs, cassette tapes, Books-on-tape, puzzles and games (on occasion) and so much more. Average price of books at the bookstore range from $5 to 3 for $2.00, depending on the copyright date.
