Brenda was visiting her son Matt as he is finishing up a renovation project. She took this photo of a surprise Matt has built for the three children of the owners. To get an idea of the size of this little escape, Matt is standing in the lower left corner by this huge tree.

In any case, this reminded me how frequently we encourage people to find a quiet spot to focus on your journaling and writing.

This photo was able to help be escape from background noise and transplant myself into it and the words just flowed out.

As a result, I looked at some other favorite spots I’ve photographed and realized I could transition myself to those spots for writing. I have always know I could for mediation, because I have and do. However, I had not applied the same to writing.

I’d like to suggest you imagine yourself in Matt’s tree house, hear the leaves with the slight rustle, and birds, and write a few lines. I hope it works as well for you as it did for me.

Thanks Brenda, for sharing the photo and thanks to Matt. I know the children will love their surprise. What a thoughtful friend.
