Since I’ve attended this as a presenter, I found it to be very professional, worthwhile, and quite a bargain for attendees and presenters alike. ~MDH

Announcing the 2015 Northwest Travel Writers Conference

Seventh annual conference calls travel writers to connect with NW tourism industry

$99 Early-Bird Special ends February 1

Travel & Words Presents (November 3, 2014) –- Calling all travel writers, early-bird registration is now open for the 7th annual Northwest Travel Writers Conference, taking place April 26-27, 2015, at Sunriver Resort in Bend, Oregon. Need help pitching to travel magazines? Want to stay on top of the latest trends in Northwest travel? The Northwest is one of the hottest travel destinations in the global market, and attending travel writers interact with editors, publishers, and tourism industry professionals to position themselves as Northwest experts and insiders to land the assignments they want. Sign up for $99 early-bird registration at www.travelwritersconference.com through January 31, 2015.

The 2014 Northwest Travel Writers Conference was the largest on record, and the 2015 conference will continue in its promise to help attendees cultivate travel stories and break into new magazines and travel publications. This year’s editors panel will include editors from leading travel publications that showcase the Pacific Northwest, including Northwest Travel Magazine. Through panel discussions, these editors give the inside scoop on pitching to their magazines.

Tourism exhibitors from the Greater Northwest also attend the conference to help travel writers focus their leads. These representatives can answer questions and share information about the regions they represent. Additionally, travel writers can choose to attend up to two conference workshops. Past workshops have included ways to increase freelancing income and techniques for using social media to cast a wider net and improve sales.

Lastly, the conference will feature a Networking Mixer with no-host bar on Sunday at Sunriver Resort. Located on the Deschutes River, the resort is a beautiful location for the conference, and its 3, 300 acres include 40 miles of pathways for pedestrians and bicycle riders, 26 tennis courts, one swimming pool, and two parks. Room discounts are offered for registered attendees.

The natural beauty of Central Oregon, which lends itself to outdoor activities of all kinds, is teeming with travel stories. Travel writers shouldn’t be surprised when they come away with a notebook full of article ideas and new contacts. The regular conference registration fee of $125 starts on February 1, 2015.

“Travel & Words is an interactive forum for travel and tourism industry professionals, editors, publishers, and freelance writers to connect, share resources and explore story ideas,” said Myrna Oakley, conference chair. For more details, contact Mattie John Bamman at 207.408.0496 or mattie.bamman@gmail.com, or visit the newly updated conference website at www.travelwritersconference.com.

About the Conference:

Travel & Words events are presented by Northwest Travel Writers Conference, an all-volunteer group of regional freelance travel writers, travel bloggers, and tourism professionals dedicated to providing a forum for freelance writers and photographers who want to explore and expand their markets in a rapidly changing writing and publishing industry.
